Researchers at Modern Sex Therapy Institutes are interested in investigating the experiences of physical pain among female bottoms engaged in impact play in BDSM community dungeon play spaces versus private play settings. Interviews will be conducted with women who meet the eligibility requirements listed below. This research is being completed by the principal investigator as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the doctoral degree at Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. This study has been approved by an Institutional Review Board to ensure the safety and welfare of participants.

Criteria for participation:

 

• 18 years or older Cisgender female or trans female on hormone therapy

• Engage in impact play in BOTH private and in BDSM dungeon play spaces as a bottom

• Engaged in these experiences within the last 6 months

• English speaking and understanding.

• No history of diagnosed chronic pain disorder

• No history of diagnosed dissociative disorder, borderline personality disorder, PTSD or those who have had an episode of psychosis within the past two years

• No use of drugs or alcohol during impact play

• The initial screening survey is expected to take less than three minutes to complete.

• The in-depth interviews will take place on Zoom and are expected to be 60-90 minutes with a brief 30-45 minute follow up scheduled 1-2 week after the initial one.

• There is no compensation for this study.
